We encourage you to pre-book an appointment before visiting our Selection Centres. This allows us to prepare our stone slabs and customize your experience. You can book an appointment online or by sending an email to sales@jlmarble.com.au.

Are the stone slabs shown on your website the exact ones available for purchase?

Yes, the images on our website are photographs of the actual stone slabs we have in stock.

Is it common for stone slabs from the same block to have slight differences?

Yes, natural stone slabs can have subtle variations in color and pattern, even within the same block.

What is bookmatching in stone slabs?

Bookmatching is the technique of placing two consecutive stone slabs side by side to create a mirror image effect with the natural veining. This technique is ideal for stones with strong vein patterns, like Calacatta.

How much time should I allow for my viewing appointment?

Each J&L Marble branch allocates between 30 minutes to one hour for stone viewing appointments. Your allocated time may vary based on the local branch and the day of your booking. Check your booking confirmation email for details.

What is the difference between Calacatta and Culcatta?

Calacatta is a luxury marble sourced exclusively from Italy. “Culcatta” is often a misspelling of Calacatta and may refer to white marbles from Kolkata, India.

Am I able to put a stone on hold, and if so, for how long?

You can put a stone on hold with a 30% deposit, and we will hold it for four weeks. After this period, full payment is required, or you can receive your deposit back if the stone doesn’t suit your needs.

What is the process for ordering a custom stone piece?

Contact us with your specific requirements, and we will guide you through the process from selection to fabrication and installation.

How does natural stone compare to engineered stone?

Natural stone is unique and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Engineered stone, made from stone chips and resins, is designed for indoor use and offers consistent coloring.

Do you offer smaller pieces of stone or remnants?

Yes, we sell stone offcuts. Please contact us for details on availability and pricing.

Can homeowners buy directly from you?

Yes, we welcome direct purchases from homeowners. Visit our website or showroom to select your stone slabs.

Can I secure a stone slab now even if my construction hasn't started?

Yes, you can buy a slab now, and we offer free storage for up to 3 months. Extended storage is available for a nominal fee.

Do you provide advice on selecting the best stone for specific projects?

Can I view the stone slabs in person before purchasing?

Yes, we encourage customers to visit our showroom to see the stone slabs in person before making a decision.

On average, it takes 12-16 weeks for natural stone to arrive from the day of purchase. This period can vary based on availability and shipping times.

Do you have natural stone tiles available to match my benchtop selection?

Generally, we do. Most of our marbles and limestones are available in tiles. Talk with your sales consultant about the tiles you need regarding both quantity and material.

Which sealer do you recommend for natural stone?

We recommend a high-quality penetrating sealer to protect the stone from grease, oil, dirt, and water.

How often should natural stone be resealed?

The resealing frequency depends on the stone type and the sealer used. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the best results.

What should I use to clean natural stone?

Use warm water and a mild dish detergent or a stone-specific cleaner available from hardware stores to clean your stone.

Can heat damage my stone benchtop?

Yes, placing hot items directly on the stone can cause damage. Always use a trivet to protect your benchtop from hot pots and pans.

What are the qualities of marble?

Marble is well-known for its luxurious aura and natural beauty and is hugely popular for kitchen benchtops and bathrooms. Marble is available in an unlimited range of colors, including white, grey, black, brown, pink, red, green, blue, beige, gold, cream, and more.

What are the qualities of granite?

Granite is the signature rock of planet earth. It is strong, has very distinctive characteristics such as high polish, and is resistant to acid and weathering. Granite is available in a variety of colors, including dark brown, dark grey, black, green, light grey, and white.

What are the qualities of limestone?

Limestone is often light or dark grey and has become a popular choice for bathrooms, walls, and floors. It is also available in white, beige, and cream color options, adding natural texture to any space. Limestone is sought after for contemporary designs.

Lithofin FAQs

What is sealing?

Sealing your stone with a product like Lithofin StainStop protects it from damage by penetrating and sealing the pores, making the stone resistant to stains from liquids such as wine and lemon juice.

 

Does a granite kitchen countertop need special treatment?

Yes, granite, like all natural stone, contains pores and capillaries which require proper sealing to prevent staining and damage.

 

How can I remove paint drops from natural stone?

Apply Lithofin WAX-OFF to the spot, let it work for 10-15 minutes while brushing occasionally, then rinse the surface with clear water.

The stone surfaces in my garden and on my terrace have turned green or black. How can I clean these surfaces?

Cleaning the surface with Lithofin MN Outdoor Cleaner will restore the surface to its original condition. For preventive measures, treat the surface with Lithofin ALGEX once a year, preferably in spring.

 

The tile/natural stone surface in my entryway is too slippery. What can I do?

Clean the surface thoroughly with an intensive cleaner. If the surface remains slippery, use Lithofin Anti-Slip to “roughen” it up, improving grip and safety.
