General Care for Stone Surfaces

  • Clean regularly with a soft cloth and warm water. Use a pH-neutral cleaner for a deeper clean.
  • Avoid abrasive tools or cleaners that may scratch or damage the surface.
  • Always use trivets for hot items and coasters for glasses, especially with acidic drinks like citrus or alcohol.
  • Seal your natural stone surfaces to protect against stains and etching. Consult a professional for the most suitable sealers for your stone.

Handling Spills

  • Blot spills immediately with a soft cloth to avoid spreading.
  • Clean with a neutral or stone-safe cleaner, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a soft cloth.
  • Repeat as needed for persistent stains or marks.

Care for Kitchens and Food Preparation Areas

  • Use cutting boards to protect the surface from scratches and knife marks.
  • Seal the benchtop as recommended by your installer to enhance stain resistance.
  • Use food-safe, non-toxic cleaning products for areas where food is prepared.

Bathrooms, Ensuites, and Laundries

  • Wipe down benchtops frequently to prevent soap scum and water stains.
  • Use neutral or non-acidic cleaners for regular maintenance.
  • Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and dry with a soft cloth to maintain a polished appearance.

Do’s and Don’ts for All Stones

Do:

  • Clean with mild, stone-safe cleaners regularly.
  • Blot spills immediately to prevent staining or etching.
  • Use trivets, coasters, and cutting boards to protect the surface.
  • Keep surfaces sealed to ensure long-term durability.

Don’t:

  • Use cleaners containing acids, like vinegar or lemon juice, which can damage natural stone.
  • Use abrasive powders, scrubs, or tools that may scratch the surface.
  • Place hot pots or pans directly on the benchtop without protection.
  • Let spills sit for prolonged periods, as they can cause permanent staining.
